I found what I need HERE (reference "accessory plug") but the price is $18 plus $10 shipping. $28 seems pretty steep. Link to comment

In the mean time, I was able to find my problem. I originally could not find the source of the open, but finally (this morning) saw a fray shorting out within the plug itself when the wire was bent a certain way. Link to comment
