Bike won't start in 1st

The Subject is a little misleading; this is an intermitent problem.

Occaisionally when the bike is warm (well, more than just 'warm')

I'll pull in the clutch (yes, the side stand is up and kill switch not

engaged) hit the start button and...nada.

Shift into neutral, try again, and Voila; engine runs.

In practical terms, this isn't really a problem, obviously, but it puzzles me

what could cause this, and if it portends some future wire, sensor,

or system failure?

I'll bet your clutch switch is going bad. They wear out occasionally. Some people replace them. I jumpered the wires into the clutch lever housing. Either way will fix the problem.
