The seller said the bike has a clear title and sent me the VIN number. This is my first experience buying from an individual, how can I make sure that there is not a lien holder on this bike? David Posted September 15, 2005 Share Posted September 15, 2005 If there's a lienholder, he either won't have the title or the title will have an indication that there is one. States treat that differently. Have him fax you a copy of both sides. Link to comment

Let us folks on this DB know where the bike is located and one of us might be able to take a look/see/ride for you before you buy. I have also had the seller provide me with the contact info for his service center and I have spoken to the service manager/tech that works on the bike. It doesn't hurt to ask for this information, if they have something to hide, you will hear it in there voice. Good Luck. Link to comment
