What to do after the Canisterectomy

At the Tech Daze, I performed the canisterectomy I so sorely needed. (And repaired the fuel sender, which had become crushed as a result of the clogged canister.)

 

There was some discussion of a 'project' to turn the dead canister into a small storage tube - for tools or the like. I did a little looking, but didn't find any reference to this - anyone have a link, or description of the job?
