hacjac
This morning my PIAA H7 low beam headlamp burned out. It was installed less than 14 months and 8000 miles ago. At $56.00 for a single bulb, this seems like a rather short life. I was wondering what kind of longevity others have gotten from these lamps. Link to comment
DavidEBSmith
The life on PIAAs is crap and they're overpriced. Try Philips Vision Plus or Osram Silver Stars (EU versions, not the US Sylvania ones) from http://www.powerbulbs.co.uk/ They're about $38 a pair for H7s. Link to comment
Rags
Oh.... jeeze. I just bought one to replace my headlight. BTW what does H4 & H7 mean? Is that the bases? Link to comment
DavidEBSmith
Bases, bulb shape and size, filament design, the works. Among other differences, H4 is a dual-filament bulb (high and low beam), H7 is a single filament bulb. Link to comment
Urban Surfer
Since we are on the subject, can I replace the stock bulbs on my bike with brighter ones? The H3s I believe are 55 watt does any one make a 65. I don't want to go too heavy in case I over heat something, but as the bulbs expire I'd like to upgrade them. From what I have read Piaa is marketing bull shit whith there 55=85 bulbs. Link to comment
jskene
You can get a 65W H7 (low beam) at: http://www.danielsternlighting.com/products/products.html Dunno about the H3 in higher power, other than 100W. You could certainly beef up the wiring without too much trouble. Not sure what this would do to your reflector though. Has anyone tried a 100W high-beam? Link to comment
