Since moving here we of course notice the differences, and a culture change such as we made isn’t all that big of a one in the grand global landscape of things. Still, it’s the little stuff that makes you smile... Driver's licenses, motor vehicle, business licenses and that sort of stuff are handled in Alberta by private contractors, called Registries. (Don’t know if it is the same for other providences or not.) Anyway, they compete against each other to some extent (at least in Edmonton). Our plates are due in June, and coincidently last week there was a $3 off coupon on your next transaction for one of them near us. A $3 off coupon for a gov’t service! I thought it was kind of cute, humorous, and uplifting all at the same time. Of course I used it. Link to comment
