steve.foote
I've got a pair of PIAA 540's on my GS and though I really like the look, I was somewhat disappointed with their light output. I felt the Hella FF50's I had on my RT were better. So, as an experiment, I decided to change out the proprietary PIAA 55w=85w Extreme White bulbs for some $5 plain-jane 55w Sylvania H3 bulbs found at a local parts house and shazam, they produce much more lumination. So, the question is, am I missing something here or is the whole blue-tinted, 55w = 85w bulb thing somewhat misleading? Link to comment
BeniciaRT_GT
Check the bottom of this thread. Great information Here I read the whole site, and I'm impressed by his information. Perception of light vs. actual light. Take care, Link to comment
steve.foote
Good info, O keeper of the balls. I figured as much. I was quite disappointed in the lights, or should I say, lack there of. Once I procured the new bulbs, I did a side-by-side comparison of the "blue" PIAA bulb vs. the standard Sylvania bulb and the difference was substantial. Basically a night and day result. Anyway, I got a chance to ride with them for about an hour tonight and they are mucho better. Very much like the FF50's were. Link to comment
