Sailorlite Posted May 4, 2009 Share Posted May 4, 2009 I recently returned from a 6-day, 2,000 mi. ride with friends through southern Utah. There was lots of on/off of helmets for eating, drinking, picture taking, etc. Usually for multi-day rides I wear the HJC Sy-max II which I find to be very comfortable. This time however I wore the full-face Shoei X-11. It was very comfortable too, but the frequent on/off just about wore the skin off my (normal size) ears! It became painful to put the helmet on, and even more so to remove it. Is this something specific to Shoei? The X-11 is fine for routine 1-day rides, but I'm curious to know whether all Shoei's could be this painful under these circumstances. (An Arai-wearing friend seemed to have no similar problem).
