Inexpensive Gps with Audio out for Autocom

It is so hard to get specifications on some of these things.

 

I am looking for an economy model Gps that I can stick in my tank bag that will talk to me through my Autocom and tell me when to turn.

 

Any suggestions.

Why don't you buy one of these???

 

You need to power it thru the bike, but it is waterproof, works great and is basically bulletproof.

 

If you buy the bike kit, it'll have the gps output for your AutoCoom.

Sounds like the audio is all you are really looking for. And in the tank bag, size is important. The 2720 is a good value but its great touch-screen will be unused mostly in the tank bag. Assuming the tank bag is waterproof, I would look for a Gamin Nuvi or other smallish unit with audio output. Those also have batteries--the 2720 has to be hard wired. Just some thoughts....

There seem to be several bike kits of different types. If I got the bike kit http://www.megagps.com/motorcyclemountingkitforstreetpilot261027202820.aspx would It allow me to use a ram mount in the future to a shelf, or to one of the bolts that hold the handle bars on? It comes with the wire harness.

Be aware, that unit does not have a battery so if you want to fool with it in a motel you have to carry the power cord or us it on the bike. FWIW

Lots of options... The GARMIN Quest is another, and it has a battery, thus can be used 'walk around.' You have to have the cradle to get the audio out though. Still, the cradle in a tank bag would work.
