Boffin
A friend and I were discussing race engines, and the subject of “Big-Bang” timing came up, which got me thinking. Given that the R259 engines operate on both a “spare-spark” and a “spare-injection” basis, that is they spark and squirt at the top of every stroke, it should be possible to make a “big-bang” Beemer. All that you would need to do is re-phase one camshaft by 180 degrees. Now the question is, why would you want to do this – what would it do to the power delivery, smoothness, transmission etc? Anybody want to be a guinea pig? Cya, Andy Link to comment
Ken H.
I'm not sure about the theory, but I dread to think what it would do to the tranny input shaft splines! Link to comment
JimGullen
I think Mitch queried the board about this three years, or so, ago. I don't remember what he found out, though. Is that right, Mitch? Best regards! Jim Link to comment
