DonW
Hi- about to pull the transmission out of my '03. Can someone tell me the length of the guide bolts/shafts that replace the mounting bolts as you slide the bugger back? Thanks, Don Link to comment

smiller
It's not really critical, anything in the range of 4-5" should work fine. The trick is finding them, got to love McMaster... Link to comment
DonW
There's a local "bolt and screw" shop that has always had the most obscure things I needed (1 1/2" fine pitch nut with nylon thread lock...) and they'll have it I'm sure. Plus I can pick it up today. I assume the goal is to have slightly more lenghth than the clutch rod extends. Link to comment

You have to be very careful of the clutch rod as sometimes it likes to stick a bit in the clutch an thus stay with the bike, in which case you can end up bending it no matter how long the guide bolts are. You can just be careful about it, or you can remove the throwout bearing and pull the rod from the rear of the tranny before separating it from the engine. Link to comment
