Maintenance and Service Schedule 2008 RT

Does anyone know the maintenance schedule for a 2008 R1200RT that is one year old and has 12k miles? A&S BMW has the schedules but they're dated 9/2006 and the braking system has changed since then. In addition to the usual maintenance items, I'm particularly interested in knowing the requirements for the braking system.

I think you should flush the brake fluid and bleed once per year.

The '08 has a lot simpler brake system than the old servo style which I have on my '05. For the servo I think the recommendation is every 2 years, so I think it should be the same for the non-servo.

 

Is the color of the brake fluid in the reservoir going yellow? If not, you should be good for another year.

Unless your 2008 is different, BMW changed its maintenance schedule a little while back for all bikes with steel-braided brake lines (like the R12RT) to:

 

- change brake fluid every two years in the wheel circuits; and

- change brake fluid every four years in the ABS control circuit.

 

That changed doubled the previous intervals.

YUP....the above is what my service rep told me to expect for my 09.
