roadshadowww
Headed to Savannah on Friday.......... got about 15 miles and the red battery light on the panel came on BRIGHT. I turned around and ALMOST got home, dimmer and dimmer, finally the brake warning flashed, the bike sputtered and died about a mile from the house. My son came over with the trailer and picked me up. So, is this likely the batteries or the charging system ???? The bike started strong when I left. Link to comment
KER
first thing to check is the alternator belt. its a common failure and thats exactly what happens when it fails. Link to comment

4wheeldog
It ain't the batter(y/ies) if the light came on. They are what got you close to home after the light came on. Either the belt (As above), the alternator or a wiring problem, in that order. Good Luck. Link to comment
