mclark Posted August 8, 2005 Share Posted August 8, 2005 My wife came back from a ride on her 1996 R1100RT last evening and told me she could not get her key out of the ignition. Sure enough, when I took a look it was indeed stuck in the On position with no intention of moving. Can somebody give me some input on whether this is a common thing or what I've got to do to get the thing repaired. I would guess something might be broken inside the switch. I've torn her down some (the bike) and removed the battery as it completely discharged. Thanks for any help, Link to comment

If you can get a small tack hammer down on the lock cylinder, tap it gently while wiggling the key. We 'fixed' his that way. On the other hand, if it's REALLY broken, that won't help.
