MGN54
OK, so I'm all excited about my new to me 2000RT. Got some oil and a filter at the dealer (about 60 miles away) but forgot about an oil filter wrench. Tried a couple I had in the ol' tool chest and of course not a one of the three fit. Sooo, does Wally World, Autozone or the like have one and if so what "model number" do I need? May just have to order one up from somewhere if not. Thanks! Mark Link to comment
Paul Mihalka
Take your new filter to any of the sources you mention and trying out you'll find the right wrench. I found that among the non-BMW wrenches the hard plastic ones fit better than the stamped metal ones. Link to comment
Jerry_75_Guy
Mark, Paul is right. I got mine from Wallyworld and it works fine. However, I do use the stamped metal wrench because it is thinner; the thick plastic wrench wouldn't fit up into the recess where the oil filter is. Link to comment
steveknapp
<shameless plug> FWIW, I've got a BMW/OEM one that I can no longer use. If you're interested shoot me a PM. </shameless plug> Link to comment
Green RT
the thick plastic wrench wouldn't fit up into the recess where the oil filter is. I got a cheap plastic one somewhere and carved it down so it would fit. Link to comment
