Jerry_75_Guy
Just got back yesterday from Lima. Looked all over for Arizona Al, but couldn't find him to ask in person, and didn't get good answers from the other mold vendors there. So, 1. when I get the custom molds done, I'm assuming that the driver is not totally and irretrievably embedded in in the mold? I ask this partly since the 6i has replacable filters to keep earwax out of the unit, and burying the unit in the mold would be the end of that. 2. Sorry, I know this must have been addressed before, but I assume (again) that with the molds, you can still get the unit far enough into your ear so as not to rub on the inside of the helmet and thereby conduct noise and cause ear pain? I ask this for two reasons; a. I really had to experiment with the supplied silicon plugs that came with the speakers to get them in far enough to prevent rubbing, and b. I'm considering leaving in the Autocom speakers as a backup, and obviously this scenerio leaves one more item for the earplugs to rub on. By the way, I paid $60 for my regular custom plugs at the Oshkosh airshow last year; the prices I was seeing at Lima seemed Quite a bit higher than that, which was a bit off putting for me. If you already have the speaker plugs, what is a good (fair) price for good custom molds? Link to comment
brogden
Reference your questions, I just got my custom earplugs/speakers from Arizona Al. 1. The speaker is totally incased inside the ear plug. It will come with an earwax remover so you can get that stuff out of the channel, but there is no access to the speaker itself. 2. The unit fits into your ear just like the ear mold. It doesn't rub on the helmet, I guess unless your ears are really pressed down by your helmet. They work great. I was really impressed by how quite the ride was with them and how much better I could hear. Oh, and I paid about $20 for the ear mold at a local hearing aid center. Link to comment
Rottweiler
This link http://store.yahoo.com/earplugstore/cusfitearmol1.html is a company that will make custom earplugs for your 6i's. The price includes an impression kit to make your own molds. If you use them let me know how you like them as I'm thinking of doing the same for my 6i's. Link to comment
