Don E Posted July 25, 2005 Share Posted July 25, 2005 I had to suffer in Chicago traffic on my way back from rally in Lima. My R1100RT was running very hot, for all most a hour, on the top bar before red. Never hit that high bar before. Is everything O.K.? Link to comment

I've been in traffic with my oilhead many times for long periods and haven't had it overheat. But if it got really hot I'd change out the oil just because I'm very anal. Link to comment
Ken H. Posted July 25, 2005 Share Posted July 25, 2005 These engines can take a lot of heat. IMHO the temp gauges on some models are way too pesimistic. Changing the oil can't hurt, but I'm sure overall you're fine. Link to comment
