Firefight911 Posted September 3, 2008 Share Posted September 3, 2008 Howdy Guys! Well, Dave and crew, consider yourselves on for Un #9 in 2010. A Skeletal view-- Most important? Location, location, location. Riding-the Sierras have that in spades! Motels and camping as close together as humanly possible! A HQ that lends itself to a whole bunch of people hanging out. --for example, a campground with tables and benches or a motorcourt type hotel. The internal hallway type hotels don't work very well. Food nearby for the unplanned meals. Remember you'll be bringing in 100 or so people. One planned, pre-payed group meal--Worked best in the past, catered on site. Also works--restaurant with banquet facilities where we can all be together or restaurant that we can take over. Worst-restaurant where we're at individual tables mixed in with other diners. A breakfast has also been included in the past. People have done everything from one catered breakfast to just having pastries and coffee available in the early AM when the HQ is a campground. Ingathering, toss your $ in the pot, pizza (or whatever) on the night most will arrive. The aim is providing a few times when people have incentive to be all in one place. It's what people want to do but you guys will provide the focal point. Shirts, stickers Ride Routes--street and dirt. Some will say that they're not needed, but if people come all the way across the country for a limited time, why make them wander around trying to find the best roads when you already know where they are? Before the end of the day, I'm going to open up a planning forum for you that just you and the Admins will have access to. No one else will be able to see it. It'll make it easier for you to talk and for the Admins to be in touch. When I get it done, it'll show up under the "Related" category as UnRally 2010 Planning. Anyhow, that's a start.
