BULLman Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Reuters) - Think you're feeling pain at the gas pump? Consider the residents of Lime Village, Alaska, an isolated Denaina Athabascan Indian community where gasoline prices have hit $8.55 a gallon Rest of the story....
smiller Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Much of Europe would love to have a price that low.

Francois_Dumas Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Much of Europe would love to have a price that low. yup. On our last trip back from France this week prices now have hit US$ 10.21 per US Gallon.......
chrisd Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 According to Wikipedia-"Lime Village is a census-designated place (CDP) in Bethel Census Area, Alaska, United States. The 2000 census found a population of six." So, what should gas cost? How do they support a gas station? From the story- "Fuel that goes to Lime Village is sent 1,800 miles by barge from Anchorage to the southwestern Alaska hub of Bethel, transferred to another barge for a trip up then Kuskokwim River and then flown by small plane to its final destination." Only $8.55/gal? How does our history factor into that, other than, as per our history, Lime Village has ridiculously low fuel costs? BTW, we pay more for a gallon of milk than we do for a gallon of gasoline here in Hawaii. It costs to live in isolation.
