Francois_Dumas
..... so we continue with our skiing adventure... My OTHER weakness (besides riding)..... not enough time nor money lately to fly one of these... but boy, flying a taildragger on skis is The Best thing in aviation, I can tell you ! Our dynamic duo in front of Europe's highest mountain, the Mont Blanc (yes, that little bump in the background.....) Then Vivian had to give up. She went down with the gondola, while dad waited for an hour here.... on one cup of coffee..... becasue Nina had all the money in her purse ! This is like plunging off a ski jump, right into the clouds. It isn't really as nasty as it looks, but a steep slope nonetheless.... many a beginner gets stuck on the first 200 yards of this run..... Once more on the Saulire. Nina pointing out something to Menno..... More clouds !!! You do NOT want to stay here after dark...... pretty eerie summit, with really bad weather at times in all seasons.... One of the two planes I made most of my hours in...... This picture I took to celebrate that Vivian came up with me in the chairlift after all. She had panicked a little before and wanted to go sit in the woods, not in a chairlift. Brave girl ! She did not come with us all the way to the top anymore..... but no matter.... Did I tell you we all got sunburn (me most of all, of course)..... The inevitable self portrait...... This guy really did a stellar paint job on the old Jodel.... You know, after 3 days skiing you start to really feel you're not 25 anymore..... not complaining, just sayin' Of course there are rewards too... And then the weather turned sour once more and we decided to make a run for the valley..... Not 'running', actually, more like carefully slithering down with 4WD turned ON THIS is what I have bought the Jeep for. Snow chains !? Hah !!! This is close to the Swiss border and Geneva, snow even here down in the valleys. We'd have some more the next day, all the way till Belgium, when it finally turned..... to rain...... We enjoyed our little break..... now let the sunshine come back and allow me to RIDE !!!! Link to comment
rogera
Francois, always the best seeing you all having fun. I've never been snow skiing. If someone could figure out how to make it work in 80 degree weather I might try. Link to comment
tallman
I seem to remember a "Nina has the money" theme in a previous adventure. I'm just saying... Fog so thick this morning I couldn't see traffic lights. That was OK as it was pitch black anyways. I like fog. Enjoyed the pics, thanks. Link to comment
Kitsap
Sometimes I think the best part of playing in the snow is getting cozy with a tasty antifreeze and friends at the end of the day. Thanks for sharing the good times Link to comment
Francois_Dumas
I seem to remember a "Nina has the money" theme in a previous adventure. I guess it is just safer that way........ I might run off and buy me a GPS or things.... Link to comment
Bullett
Beautiful pictures, Francois. Sure looks like fun! You do know that somebody (I'm thinking Nina here) needs to make sure the money is spent on "practical" things (defined as "what Nina wants!") If you had the purse, you'd go spend it on one of them crazy ski planes or somethin'. I'm just sayin' Link to comment
