DavidEBSmith
We're getting our first Sonic! No more driving to 125 miles to Champaign or Kokomo or Peoria for a limeade. Now if we can just get a Waffle House, we'll have all the finest road food. Link to comment
questrider
Yay, more homogenized poison. Any chain that has over 3,000 locations isn't what I would call "fine" road food. Link to comment
steveknapp
limeade - I went out of my way to get one...it sucked. Link to comment
Huzband
No more driving to 125 miles to Champaign or Kokomo or Peoria for a limeade. This from an Iron Butt rider? Link to comment

Jeez, you guys really know how to let the air out of a guy's balloon. Eebie, just so you know, I share your joy. Back in the day (when I was a California boy), I frequently refueled at Sonic. Ken H.
more homogenized poison.Exactly. And I just love the logic of their commercials - The people who eat our food are boorish, chauvinistic, moronic imbeciles. I thought living your whole life in a van went out with the '70s! Link to comment
4wheeldog
Sonic is nothing to write home about, IMHO. Their limeade is just sugar water. The question is, do you have the best of chain road fast food.......In 'n Out. The best chain burger and fries you can find. Again, IMHO. Link to comment

Ummm.... +1, but also -1. I'm excited to have a Sonic on the way. Love the jalapeno cheeseburger. Great onion rings, too. But, when I lived in California, In & Out was the choice. Link to comment
steveknapp
In & Out was the choice. Damm straight. Link to comment
Matts_12GS
cherry limeade + vodka = good!!! Link to comment
steveknapp
Did I get a bad batch? It tasted like tonic water w/ a slight bit of cherry flavor. Not at all sweet, more bitter, and carbonated ever so weakly. Link to comment
Matts_12GS
Maybe so. The one I had was like an icee almost. Link to comment

Well, as a boorish, chauvinistic, moronic imbecile, I kinda dig their commercials. Their food, on the other hand... Nothing to write home about. Link to comment

White Castle - One of my life-long guilty pleasures. Steak 'n Shake? Not bad as far as diner-style chains go, I could go for a "chili 5 way." Mmmm. (and yes, I know, it's got beans so it really isn't chili) Link to comment
eddd
We Sonics all over my area, but I've never even considered stopping at one. I might have to stop in some day and see if I've been missing anything. Link to comment
Paul_Burkett
I don't think I have ever been to a Sonic Burger place. I think I'll give it a try next time I am down there. Link to comment

Now I want one. But I would have thought that as a New Mexican, you'd be a Lotaburger fan. Link to comment

I thought you didn't eat meat? How do you know? Went to introduce some Cali friends to White Castle. They just stopped their 24hr policy in the 'burbs. Only open to 11. Bummer. Link to comment

You're showing your age, Rich. There are a couple of JBs in southern Illinois, but they moved out of the Chicago area, oh, maybe 25-30 years ago. Wow, I do remember their greasy pre-made deep fried tacos. Had to make sure you didn't tilt them when eating or the red, chorizo-like oil would just run out the other end. Yummmy! Weed? I'm confused, you would tilt them towards you so the grease would run into you instead of out onto the plate? Link to comment

Closest one is Litchfield, but I would traditionally stop at the one in Sullivan, MO, until I discovered there's a Lion's Choice Roast Beef across the road, which is a St. Louis based chain, and about 1000x better than Arbys.
