I admit to looking forward to this ride every year. Beautiful country, nice roads, and a great payoff at the end: pizza and beer! The ride itsellf is an easy ride with very few moments of technical riding. There are, however, spectacular vistas, two lakes, a drive-by Hell's Kitchen biker bar, gorgeous canyons, and a pretty beach town.

 

Note: I thoroughly encourage those beer lovers among us to sample this fine establishment's wares; they are truly some of the best brewing southern California has to offer, but please drink responsibly. Some of Port Brewing's beverages are strong by European standards! You have been warned.

 

If you have not been through Ortega Highway lately, do not fret. While there is some construction ongoing in a small stretch, most of it is in wonderful condition and it will not entail any more than a momentary delay if there is traffic control. Such is the beauty of being a mid-week slacker!

 

Once I get a full list I will PM or e-mail people the directions to my house and hte gate code. As usual, I will update from time to time with the ride list.

Just over the flu -kicked my butt for 3 weeks. If it is warm by then I will be there.

I am concerned about mixing beer and motorcycles. I like both, but not together. Personally I can't imagine having ONE and then getting on a motorcycle.

They serve tropical iced-tea too! -- and the Pizza is quite good.

 

I would never advocate someone having a beer and riding a motorcycle if they were not comfortable with it. Nor would I ever advocate someone drinking enough beers to be legally intoxicated and driving anything, even if they *were* comfortable with it! However, we are all responsible adults here. Some people are comfortable having an adult beverage or two and riding their motorcycle conservatively, others are not. Procede at your own risk!

 

The ride itself is fairly mellow, and the food/atmosphere is great. Current forecast is for 65-67deg and sunny on Wednesday, so it should be absolutely beautiful!

 

I'll mark you down as a probable.

Yes, the weather was fantastic, the company was good and so was the pizza and beer. Everyone had a safe, fun time and we will certainly look to plan another ride proabably around the end of February.

 

The next one might be on a Friday, so keep your schedules clear!
