Cycledude
Hello all. I am planning a trip from Milwaukee, Wi to Niagara Falls in June 2008. I would like some input from those that have been there on where to stay and what is "fun/nice" to do. Thanks. Snowy. Link to comment

marcopolo
I'm assuming you mean Niagara Falls, Canada, as that's where the bigger falls are located, and where the better views are (all those famous tourist photos you've seen are of the Canadian Falls). As for where to stay, I'd suggest Niagara-on-the Lake (NOTL), a quaint loyalist town (designated a National Historic District) about 20 kms away. It has lots of B&Bs, and hotels, if you're not into B&Bs. Here's a link to the Chamber of Commerce: http://www.niagaraonthelake.com/ That site has links to related sites, and also to a PDF format tourist guide for NOTL. As for things to do in the area, how about a casino in Niagara Falls, numerous wineries in the area (some with excellent restauants), jet boat rides on the Niagara river, historic sights like old British forts, the Butterfly Conservatory between NOTL and Niagara Falls, annual Shaw festival in NOTL, if you're into theatre? Here's the link to the butterfly conservatory: http://www.niagaraparks.com/garden/butterfly.php Only stay in Niagara Falls proper if you're prepared for tacky touristy. Link to comment
Woodie
Definitely stay (or at least visit) on the Canadian side. Much better views. The museum/movie on the US side isn't bad either. There's a shuttle-type bus that runs up/down the Canadian side, stopping at all the touristy spots. Easier than drive/park! The gondola ride is pretty neat, as are the Mermaids of the Mist.
