We awoke to a brisk but clear day and headed for our evenings destination, Olomouc, in the Czech Republic. The Tatra’s mountains provided the scenery and we enjoyed riding along the base (called the Freedom Trail) for many miles, all be it with periods of fog and for an hour or so some heavy rain, which we ended up waiting out in a pizza place in the shadow of the Orava castle.

Soon enough we made the border and entered into the Czech Republic for the first time….

Olomouc is a great town with 6 famous Baroque fountains, an astronomical clock, numerous churches and a great main square in the old section. We stayed in a great little hotel with a real shower (not so common) and an easy walk to the old section of town.
