Tool Posted August 31, 2007 Share Posted August 31, 2007 Wow... this makes me ponder: What do we owe the true inventors of that era?? Their sweat and determination changed lives back then. Today's inventors and scientists are truly standing on the shoulders of giants! I can't be certain, but I seem to recall that Roper's steam-powered motorcycle - often considered the first real powered 2-wheeler (Daimler's was gas-powered) - was represented at the "Art of the Motorcycle" exhibit that I visited in Las Vegas... looked something like this: I remember thinking - Who would be crazy enough to straddle a steam boiler - basically a bomb - and ride it around the "roads" they had back then? But you know the saying, "I can remember everything, whether it happened or not" - or however it goes! Does anyone recall seeing it? Link to comment
