AndyS
Any ideas how to resolve this problem? Put bike on centrestand back wheel spins fine. Take bike for wholesome ride. Stop. Turn off engine. listen to the rear disc make crack type noises as it cools down. Put bike on centrestand spin back wheel - it always seems to spin freely. Rear disc pad usage (particularly inboard one) very much higher than it should be. These calipers are floating in as much as they should self centre along sliding pins. Thanks Andy. Link to comment
ninermatt
Are you sure Its the rear caliper making the "cracking" sound and not the final drive? I would disassemble the caliper and clean and lube all the sliding mechanisms. Link to comment
Ken H.
Does it spin freely if you put it on the center stand while everything is hot? While the crack type noise is still going on? Link to comment
AndyS
Does it spin freely if you put it on the center stand while everything is hot? While the crack type noise is still going on? Yes, pretty much - just hear the normal brushing of the pads against the disc with no undue force needed to rotate wheel. Andy Link to comment
