Possible Clutch Spline Lube?

I am looking at an '01 RT w/21,000 miles to replace my 2000 Deerhunter.

I noticed difficulty in downshifting from 3 -2, but after a full warm up could not replicate the problem. I am overly cautious due to my last spline lube job on my last RT.

Does this sound like a possible splne lube in the future (at 21,000)?

Everything else on the bike checks out fine except as bit of knock/pinging at full on throttle in 4th (or was it 5th).

Check the easy stuff first. Clutch free play and shift linkage for looseness.
