itroop
I just checked the post for the maintenance data at the top of this section. There was so much useful information posted. Either I missed the part for the 1150RT's replacement oil filter or it wsan't posted. I'm sure I just overlooked it. Can someone please give me the brands and part number for an aftermarket oil filter for an 02 R1150RT. Thanks, Mark Link to comment

And which is sub-par? In any given 6000 mile service interval I use about $430 dollars worth of gas, another $150 of wear on my tires, probably $150 for insurance, plus oil and other low cost items including one oil filter. I just can't get very excited about saving a few dollors on after-market oil filters, some of which are of such low quality I wouldn't put them on my car, let alone one of my bike. ericfoerster
Some good reading here: http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/Filters.html#OilFilters More good stuff here: http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/FilterStudy.html Stan is right, why take chance? I do use the Mobil 1 filter only due to the testing it has been through. Link to comment

itroop
Thanks for the resposes. With that said, is there an oil that I can get a an automotive shop that will work in the bike? Oil changes at 3k miles. I figure if I change at 3k miles, just about any motorcycle oil will work. Am I off base or in the ballpark? Link to comment

Do a search on "oil" here and you will find several 100 post on this subject with just about as many opinions! But if you want my opinion, 3K is ridiculously too often to change your oil, and any major brand will do just fine. Link to comment
