Boxerdad
Is anyone out there making harnesses for R1100 hall efect sensors? Has BMW ever had a recall due to the wire insullation breaking down? Link to comment
smiller
Is anyone out there making harnesses for R1100 hall efect sensors?I think that bmwmick may have these available, give him a PM. I'm not aware of BMW ever issuing a recall or even acknowledging the problem. What a surprise. Link to comment

John, Yes, I have some harnesses and I sent you some pics. Don't hold your breath on the recalls......BMW denies that they have a problem if you ask the dealers. Mick Tucson Link to comment

bmwmick
The only problem is that it's the original Bosch part with the same inferior wiring of the original part. $209 http://63.135.101.225/database/mcinventory/parts_more.asp?Page=1&search_fd0=130 Mick Link to comment
RFW
Is anyone out there making harnesses for R1100 hall efect sensors? Has BMW ever had a recall due to the wire insullation breaking down? It's just ordinary shielded wire. Replace it with any small diameter coax such as RG187 or RG188 and it will be better than new. Link to comment

The RG-187 coax is 0.11" in diameter and you need 4 individual wires. That would make the bundle about 1/2" which would never fit where it's used in our Oilheads. The temperature range might be OK though. I looked all over to find the 4-wire shielded cable we need for the HES and the only cable I could find that was 200C rated would have cost a few hundred dollars for the minimum 100' spool. Dearborn 62204-100 is a good match. http://www.newark.com/NewarkWebCommerce/...=AFC-TL10000001 Mick Tucson Link to comment
