Steve1962
Wychwood forest is just a few miles from where I live , and is recorded in the Domesday book of 1086 . It covered much of what is now West Oxfordshire , and The term 'forest' referred historically to areas where hunting rights were reserved for the Sovereign and included in this area would have been meadows, cultivated open fields, heaths and downs as well as woodlands. This morning I took a ride there to take in the autumn colours in al their early morning glory , and here are some photos ................. On the way there ........... Open countryside flanks the forest ............... We've had some overnight rain .............. Into the forest , looking up at the canopy of colours ............. there's something magical about woodlands in the early morning ........ Across the woodland .............. And down the road ............... The early morning light ............... Another small road ..................... The light changes by the second ................ Got to head back now , breakfast beckons Last look up at the foliage ............... Through the mirror .......... That's another nice ride over . __________________ Link to comment

Steve1962
Francois, This morning I saw plenty of pheasant , and some deer too .......... I got off the bike to take some photos , and three deer bolted out from behind some trees and ran across the road right in front of me ...........the noise they made as they scrambled out of their hiding place scared the life out of me !! At that time of the day when there is no other sound , every noise seems to be magnified ten fold !! Steve Link to comment

Mike O
Nicely crafted. Steve, I'm curious. road through the forest appears narrow with no center line markings. Is the road intended two-way? or is it one way through? Regards, Mike O Link to comment
Steve1962
Mike , They are two way roads , sometimes there are signs displaying the optimistic words " Single track road with passing places " Steve Link to comment
