Stephen_Chase
Hi, My R1100RT is given to a "little" backfiring when I slack off on the throttle. It seems to me this is normal, but I wanted to ask the panel if I am correct. All else seems to work just fine. Stephen My Norton backfires too, by times. SC Link to comment
HappyMan
It's normal to burble a little if the throttle is still slightly cracked open. I love it! Link to comment
eurodat
Check the silencer for holes, it's often the cause of a backfire when the throttle is let off Link to comment
tobyone
My r1100r did this quite a bit after i had a bad tune up done by a bmw car mechanic once. The bmw motorcycle dealer's shop fixed it right up and no matter how much you let off it would not pop back Link to comment
wolcott
My "98 R1100RT backfired somewhat when I first got it (summer of 05), and even after I replaced the plugs (NGK) and the dealership adjusted the valves, replaced all cables, TB synch, etc. So, I hope a little backfiring is acceptable after that. leikam
Check your exhaust joints for leaks. Not all bikes do this. I'm guessing you'll find something (or a couple somethings) a bit loose. Link to comment
