MikeRC Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 I've been talked into volunteering at a booth for a day or so. Probably camping since this is a relatively late decision. It's actually a nice 2-3 day ride for me (depending on diversions). Mike C
RadioFlyer Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 Notwithstanding my criticism of the MOA over its too cosy relationship with BMW they do put on a great rally and I plan to attend. 1 1

Mike C Hi, Mike, Haven't seen you since Heceta Head Lighthouse years ago. Lemme know what booth and day so I can drop by to see you. Bill 1
Jimmy2Time Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 I've never been to any motorcycle rally. However, I do live in the Portland, Oregon (SW Washington) area and decided that I should make the effort to attend and see what motorcycle rallies are all about. Probably heading over the Cascade range on the 13th, either over Mt. Hood/Government Camp via 26 or using 224 / NF=46 which follows the Clackamas River. I guess it will depend upon the weather on the western slopes of the Cascades that day. Any advice for a motorcycle rally newbie?

Redmond is a pretty relaxed location - get a good camping spot, wander around. Find @scout6 and he'll introduce you to all the other BMWSTers at the rally. I usually try to get there mid-day whatever day I arrive, set up, look at the exhibitors, check the schedule and then decide if I want to spend the next day around the rally site or if I want to go ride. If you have any interest in the older BMWs, go find the airhead central setup - they'll be fun stuff to see.
bendbill Posted May 17, 2024 Posted May 17, 2024 If it's in Red's backyard, it's on my front porch. Planning for a day pass on Sat the 15th 1 1
Red Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Having the national MOA rally is good for membership. In my last edition of MOA magazine I've never seen so many new OR members. Must be a free IPA with new membership. 1

Those freebies don't last. MOA membership has been declining for a long time. Good rally though.
