Headlight Modulator and CANBUS

I'm hoping someone can shed light on this. 

 

Can anyone tell me if the CANBUS controls/monitors the headlights on the 05 models?

 

I'd like to install a headlight modulator, but I don't know if I need a CANBUS friendly model.

In the strict sense of the word, the headlight is not actually on the CANBUS.  It IS controlled and monitored by the ZFE (Central Chassis Electronics computer) so yes, you'll want "CANBUS friendly".   If the ZFE sees the current draw outside of a normal range it may assume there is a fault and shut off the circuit.
