Engine note/ carbon build up on exhaust

Recently I’ve noticed an increased engine note/ burble when downshifting and some carbon buildup on my exhaust. While my bike has always had carbon on the exhaust, it seems to be a little more than before. I certainly appreciate the sounds the bike is making, but don’t want a negative outcome from the sounds the bike is making. This 2013 has 27k miles on the odo of mostly commuting miles. Any suggestions?

You might verify that your exhaust flapper is working properly.

Good idea, I’ll do some research to find out how to check that.
