Anyone using the Bel-Ray Big Twin Transmission Oil?

Bel Ray Big Twin

or the Bel Ray Gear Saver Hypoid gear oil?

Gear Saver Hypoid

book says that fancy kiss hug Castrol XO stuff. Does it matter?

I always get that little bottle of oil for the final drive from BMW, but for the gear box I was gonna try one of these.

Morning Hadabadachada

The BMW specification is a modern 75W-90 GL5  Gear Oil, that 85-140 that you link to is pretty far out of spec.

I would probably use that  85-140 in one of my old tractors but it wouldn't be my 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd choice for use in a BMW 6 speed transmission.

Lots of better choices for your camhead transmission than tractor gear oil.

Interesting.

I’ve been using Mobil 1 75-140 on the gear box with no noticeable issues.

I’ve used that because of the Miami heat.

I had used this bell ray in one of my other bikes gear boxes a few times. A little thicker, but to me it was a lot smoother shifting.

Same here. I switched over because I was getting gear noise and some miss shifting when the new gear oil was in service for a short time. Really didn't notice the gear noise until after each gearbox servicing. So I tried the thicker gear oil and it stays quieter longer between servicing.  The only miss shifts I get is user error.  I believe Dirtrider suggested trying a thicker oil for the gearbox to see if it helps. It's been several years since and still use it.
