TwinMax Carb balancers.

Skywagon

Recommended Posts

I need a refresher.  A friend wants me to help him replace his push rod tubes on his R90/6 tomorrow.  Thats no big deal.  He also wants to balance the carbs tomorrow using his TwinMax.  I haven't used one of those in a couple of decades now.  Can you remind me how it works...From memory is connect to vacuum port and plug off hose, balance at idle and at 3000rpm.....ugh...memory is fading on airheads.

Attach it to the ports. Turn the unit on and balance it to “0” while the motor is off and with the sensitivity set at Max.

Then turn the sensitivity to Min and start the bike.

Try to set the idle balance, slowly turn the sensitivity to Max and watch the needle. Try to keep it as close to the center “0”. Set to Min and roll on the throttle and see if it stays at “0”. Adjust the cables and retest. Then check at 3-4K rpms and slowly turn the sensitivity to Max to see if the needle stays as close to the “0” as possible. It will bounce back and fort, but the shorter the swings the better.
