No mention of this on any of the news channels so far today.  Kind of surprising.  Dad was radar underway and an on deck gunner when under attack on the Indiana BB58.  The generation that saved the world...IMHO

Our local news station did a story about it.  Man, we are losing more every year.  Guessing the ages are getting well over 100 years old.   To even live 82 years after that tragic day and the subsequent war is amazing.

My last remaining grandparent is a WWII vet - he was quite young then, and at 97 now he doesn’t have many peers left.

Even some of the youngsters of the day were badass. Don’t understand why the Navy did what they did, probably a cover your ass move.

I don't think I saw much of a reference to the event like usual. Instead it was noted that it had been 2 months since Hamas attacked the civilians of Israel. Both were noteworthy but one started a world war. Let's hope the second doesn't.
