RandyShields
Many riders in the southeast have been missing the opportunity to camp at the beautiful and relaxing Blue Ridge Motorcycle Campground, in Cruso, NC, just at the bottom of the Blue Ridge on US 276. The bridge to the campground was destroyed last August (again) by a flash flood. Some internet sites show the location as "permanently closed," but there are signs of life. When I was riding home on Sunday from our end of year hurrah, the BRMC sign was down, but I noticed some pretty robust concrete bridge footings on each side of the Pigeon River where a new bridge looks to be planned. These footings appeared to be double the size of what was there before. I went to the Facebook page for the campground, and they state that there is no reopening date, but maybe the state can construct the new bridge over the winter and there will camping again in the spring! Fingers crossed that this outstanding motorcycle-friendly location has another rebirth after several challenging years. 3 Link to comment
