curmudgeonMS
Anyone got an answer for this. Negative post was corroded. 6mm bolt unusable. Can't start nut and can't run a thread die over it. 6mm bolt is "fixed" to the terminal. Replacing the whole negative wiring assembly would seem to be a formidable task. Cut the 6mm bolt off and drill and replace with a common bolt/nut combination? Link to comment

You have some options, you can try using a 6x1 small die to chase the threads (at least as far as you can). Or try finding a 12 point socket that will just fit over the head of that stud then use a C clamp or vise grips to try to press the stud out (it's sort of spun welded in place). You can also use a short piece of pipe. You can even use a 6 point socket but usually a 12 point socket fits the outer diameter of the stud head closer than a 6 point. You can drill it out but that isn't easy with the cable still attached to the motorcycle & the end floating around. If you choose to drill it try not to get metallic drilling debris down in the motorcycle as those will start corrosion & can get into things they shouldn't get into. Or you can probably cut the end off just below the stud, then flatten the remaining tab, then drill a new hole. Link to comment
