Abington, VA:

The Peppermill, 231 W Main St, Abingdon, VA 24210 Riding buddy found this place. http://thepeppermillnew.com/

 

Floyd, VA:

Floyd Country Store, 206 S. Locust St. Floyd, VA Love this place. Great food and atmosphere. Parking across the street https://www.floydcountrystore.com/cafe/menu

Bootleg BBQ, 412 S Locust St, Floyd, VA 24091 Have not eaten here but have heard very positive comments about it. It is a "food truck" set up with outside seating. http://bootlegq.com/

Outerspace, 320 S Locust St, Floyd, VA 24091 Very cool and eclectic option with outside seating.

Red Rooster Coffee, 823 E Main St, Floyd, VA 24091 Local coffee shop with some baked goods https://www.redroostercafeandbakery.com/

 

Fancy Gap, VA:

The Gap Deli at The Parkway, 7975 Fancy Gap Hwy, Fancy Gap, VA 24328 Great breakfast or lunch stop with indoor and outdoor seating just off the BRP http://thegapdeli.com/

Lake View Restaurant, 7830 Fancy Gap Hwy, Fancy Gap, VA 24328 Local family restaurant with basic fare. Good for breakfast and lunch. Just off the BRP

 

Paint Bank, VA:

Swinging Bridge Restaurant, 16071 Paint Bank Rd, Paint Bank, VA 24131 Swinging Bridge Restaurant is located inside the Paint Bank General Store. Very cool place with good food. Great for breakfast or lunch and yes there is a swinging bridge inside the restaurant! http://www.theswingingbridge.com/

 

Galax, VA:

Galax Smokehouse, 101 N Main St, Galax, VA 24333 Great local BBQ place http://thegalaxsmokehouse.com/

County Line Café, 956 E Stuart Dr, Galax, VA 24333 Located on Rt.221 (E. Stuart Dr) a good stop for breakfast lunch or dinner with a real local country feel.

 

Draper, VA:

Draper Mercantile, 3054 Greenbriar Rd, Draper, VA 24324 Very neat option for breakfast or lunch. They also have a coffee shop inside with excellent baked goods. The restored building is really neat! Just off of I-81 and Rt.100 https://www.draperisfordreamers.com

 

Mouth of Wilson:

Log House Restaurant / Corner Market & Café, 4008 Troutdale Hwy, Mouth of Wilson VA Good stop for breakfast or lunch. They have a store and gas station with non-ethanol prem. Gas. It is located at intersection of Rt.16 & Rt.58

 

Whitetop, VA:

Railroad Market & Café, 16103 Highlands Pkwy, Whitetop, VA 24292 Located on Rt.58 close to Damascus, VA. Newly renovated gas station with a nice café. Good food and gas stop in a cool setting.

 

Fries, VA:

Windy River Café, 335 Firehouse Dr, Fries, VA 24330 Local café open for lunch at 11:00. Located right on the New River and next to a park where you can eat at a picnic table and watch the river pass by! https://windyrivercafe.weebly.com

 

Burkes Garden, VA:

Burkes Garden General Store, State Rt. 623, Tazewell, VA Great Amish run store that has snacks and makes sandwiches and I believe they have breakfast items as well. If you are lucky, you'll see an Amish horse drawn wagon pass by!

 

Meadows of Dan VA:

Mabry Mill Restaurant, 266 Mabry Mill Rd SE, Meadows of Dan, VA Love this place especially for breakfast and their famous pancakes. Get there early to avoid any waiting. Although address is Mabry Mill Rd., they are located right ON the Parkway at mile post 176 https://mabrymillrestaurant.com

 

Little Switzerland, NC:

Chalet Restaurant located in the Switzerland Inn, 86 High Ridge Rd, Little Switzerland, NC 28749 Most folks dine at the Little Switzerland Café but I was turned onto to the Chalet located in the Switzerland Inn and love it. Get there at 11:30 AM for lunch and get seated outside on the terrace with a killer view! http://switzerlandinn.com/

 

Laurel Springs, NC:

The Bluffs, 45338 Blue Rdg Pkwy, Laurel Springs, NC 28644 Located right ON the Parkway at Mile Post 240. Open for lunch weekdays and breakfast on Sat and Sun. They are in between the BRP construction zones and really need the business. https://www.bluffsrestaurant.org

 

Glade Valley, NC:

Circle L Family Restaurant, 3238 US-21, Glade Valley, NC 28627 Located 4 miles south of the Alleghany Inn on Rt.21 this is another option for breakfast or lunch. Good food and service with a hometown feel.

 

Dobson, NC:

Dairy Queen Grill & Chill, 2359 Zephyr Rd, Dobson, NC 27017 Yeah just a good ole' DQ but I like this one just off of I-77 at exit 93. Close to the BRP and Rts 52 and 89. This is a Grill and Chill and they lunch is pretty good. They have a nice large seating area in the convenience store area and the BP station is nice and spacious with lots of parking and wide spaced pumps. Just a nice stop and a good value.

There will also be hard copies of the restaurant list available at the hotel in Sparta so no need to print this info.  
 

The list is restaurants I’ve tried myself and enjoyed,  a friend has tried and enjoyed or someone has told me about the place with positive comments.

FYI - Tennessee / N.C. , hwy 143 / 165 Cherohala Skyway road wash out and  Skyway gas station closed. Cherohala is closed about 5 miles south of Tellico Plains. Rode it from the Robbinsville (south end) to closure and back to Robbinsville. Not much traffic and no enforcement seen. Estimating 2-3 weeks for temporary repairs.

On a postive note, the detour for Cherohala is 121 miles long.   (not that there is anything wrong with that.  Am I right?)

OK so this isn't a  restaurant but a super bunch of people and  great leather goods just up the road off rt 21 in Independence VA...Fox Creek  Leathers is worth a look see if you're  in the area!

Here is some info on anyone traveling up I-77,  looking for non-ethanol gas near the host hotel and reminder about The Bluffs for lunch!
