East - West Route Alternatives to Blue Ridge Parkway

Hey Riders,

 

Any recommendations on good routes from Little Switzerland NC to West Point NY???

 

Background: I have a group heading from Spring Hill Tennessee area to West Point NY in September. I've got plans to Little Switzerland on the Blue Ridge Parkway. After that i'm open.....we prefer to avoid interstates and ride at a little quicker pace.The 45 mph speed limit on the Blue Ridge Parkway might be challenging after a day or two . So I'm looking for suggestions on a west-east routes from Little Switzerland to West Point that throw in a few twisty sections and avoids interstates as much as possible.

@Jim_B Make your way up to Mallow WV. 

 

Take 
220 N to Franklin

Left on 33 up to Seneca Rocks.

Right on 32 in Hartman

Left on 72 near Red Creek

Right on 48 in Hambleton

Left on 219 in Thomas

 

Stay on 219 all the way to Route 6 in Northern PA.

Take 6 east to West Point.

Another less highway option would be to make your way to Marion Va. 

Take Rt 16 through Hungry Mother State Park (awesome ride).

In Tazewell take 19 to 61 to Narrows.

Take 460 to 219 to I 64 E to Mallow and continue on the route above.

I think you’ll enjoy this route WAY more than slabbing it up I 81.  Good luck and take pictures!
