AIR FILTER - HAVE I BEEN SOLD CORRECT PART?

hi Gents, I just drove across town to the dealer and purchased a new air filter for my 2012 RT. It is slightly different in appearance to what is installed. On the upstream side the installed one has just a metal "cross" whereas my new one has a metal sheet with many perforation holes.

The installed one is a part ..........#1371 770 6414 - 01 (also marked LX984/5)

The new one is a part .................#1371 767 2552 - 03 (also marked LX984/2).

I've searched online and found some places where it appears LX984/2 might be the air filter for an older model (2004-2009).

Can anyone clarify this for me please?

Morning 009jim

My parts book shows_

The 1371 770 6414 - 01 is for your 1200 camhead

The 1371 767 2552 -03 is for the older 1200 hexhead

I don't know if they are interchangeable or not (you would think that if they were then BMW would not have sperate part numbers).

In any case, you should probably call the dealer where you purchased it to verify that they sold you the correct one.

This is for a 2012 (LX984/5) Same bike I own. The two filters are different. The orange colored ends that insert into the airbox have slightly different lips. It will fit but not securely.  So the correct filter is the Mahle LX984/5.

Item #2 on the parts diagram is the BMW part number for your bike.

See images.

Went back to the dealer this morning. They apologised for the mistake.

#1371 770 6414 (also marked LX984/5) is the correct part.

Thanks for the contributions.
