pwillikers
Vehicle: 2011 BMW R1200RT (Model: K26, 0440) My RT came from the previous owner with only one key. I'd like to have a spare key made but I'm uncertain as to the available options. There are key "blanks" available on ebay but I believe the BMW keys are "chipped" and require a dealer service to make them functional. Am I correct? What is the best option for obtaining a spare key? Thanks. Link to comment
szurszewski
If you have a local dealer, go in with the registration/title for the bike (with your name on it) and your ID. They can order one for you. Should be close to a hundred bucks. Link to comment

Rinkydink
The dealer is not the picky one. It’s corporate covering their butt. Hence them needing solid proof of ownership. Link to comment
