Skywagon
Much has been written here about the importance of correctly greasing and sealing the spline/final drive. I decided to do mine yesterday. To my pleasant surprise they were clean, dry, and looked new. The units were clean and smooth. Here is what they looked like. No rust at all. 3 Link to comment

wbw6cos
@Skywagon Must be some of that Texas weather you have been bragging about. Nice looking splines you got there. 1 Link to comment
Skywagon
Won’t be bragging in a couple more months. Will hole up in July until September. Will park the bike and go fishing 2 Link to comment
Dave_in_TX
Splines on both my 2014 R1200GS and 2020 R1250GS were rust-free and lubed when I inspected them. Added some fresh grease, of course, before putting everything back together. I have seen pictures of some horribly rusted splines on advrider.com. 1 Link to comment
