Garmin Nav V GPS in Nav IV Cradle Fitment Issue

When I recently traded my 2014 R1200GS on a 2013 R1200RT, I kept my Garmin Nav V GPS because it fit (tightly) and worked in the Nav IV cradle that was already on the RT. I also use the Nav V on my Tenere 700 (using a Garmin 660/665 powered cradle on that bike), and because the GPS has been issue-free in the eight years I've owned it I have no plans to replace it.

When installing the Nav V on the RT's cradle, unlike on the GS's Nav V cradle or the T7's cradle, the fit is very tight - so tight that I have to press down on the cradle's top rectangular tab to fully engage the two retaining tabs into the top of the GPS. The RT cradle's release button is also very tight, and last week after a cold ride the GPS was a real struggle to get released.

A Google search revealed other references to this same tight fit issue with Nav Vs in Nav IV cradles, and I wondered if anyone here has found a fix for this before the IV cradle mechanism breaks one of these days.
