EdM Posted January 19, 2023 Share Posted January 19, 2023 I am of the opinion that the only way self driving cars can operate effectively and safely is on a closed roadway where all vehicles are self driving and have the ability to communicate positioning between them. Trying to get them to figure out all the possible dynamics of an open road network with a mix of vehicles is futile. 1 1 Link to comment
Calvin (no socks) Posted January 19, 2023 Share Posted January 19, 2023 I'm in the auto industry and have experienced issues with lane marking and objects on side of road while simulating autonomous travel.... Real world autonomous vehicles depend on near perfection for guidance... Artificial intelligence isn't here yet. It takes a engaged driver to override the mistakes.... 1 1 Link to comment
