Afternoon Hosstage Probably their income stream________ Actually they didn't really say but it looks like they are removing some metallic compounds from the pads so possibly they are looking to the future for environmental concerns. I do question the adding of iron compounds as that sounds like the brake dust that accumulates on the wheels could cause increased wheel finish pitting in damp conditions. It also makes me wonder about the increased possibly of brake rotor staining when the motorcycle is parked for a while with damp or wet brake pads. I guess the future will tell! 1 Link to comment
Hosstage
Iron is not a sustainable component, so I see "more sustainable" as a marketing ploy, as you say, "income stream." Link to comment
Hosstage
All decisions are economic, I re-read the article paying more attention, the idea of using "hook technology" to bond the friction material to the backing plate is interesting, allows the use of less or no adhesive, which is probably cheaper in the long run, and of course better for the earth to use less chemicals. Time will tell how more sustainable plays out. Link to comment
