Access to the Alternator drive belt

I am going to replace the alternator drive belt on my 2002 R1150 RT-P. However there is a bracket ( for the crash bar mount) in the way. Can I remove this bracket permanently and dispose with the crash bars completely?

Any hints, recommendations or hilarious comments are welcome!

When I had an RTP, I wanted to keep the crash bars intact so I cut the plastic belt cover in half so it would come out in two pieces and clear that cross bar.

Alot of riders did that mod on their 1150rt's. Really makes access much easier/

The cover will come off by pushing it down and to the right as sitting on the bike. Yes you will need to twist and slightly bend it. If you are getting rid of the crash bars, PM me as I might like to buy them if they are in good shape.
