BMWED
Hello all. Thinking of adapting this trailer jack to lift the the rear end of the bike, so I can get the centre stand down while on the lift. I will make a bung to fit the hole in the axle. Anyone see any problems doing this? Only thing comes to mind, seeing as its lifting from one side, there will be a twisting action applied to the axle bearings. Not sure if this would be an issue. Link to comment
lkraus
That should not stress the bearings any more than they are while parked on the wheels, certainly less stress than when riding. I jack up the rear end on a lift with a small scissors jack from a car and a block of wood under the crankcase or final drive. Link to comment
BMWED
I have a GS skid plate on mine and thought that jacking it there may bend it. Link to comment
Doctor T
Can't see any problems as i use a rear paddock stand that attaches the same way through the hole. Link to comment

That's why I use a scrap of wood on top of the jack. It prevents scratches and spreads the load. A piece that spans the mounting bolts would probably be best. Link to comment
