help

For the life of me I cannot figure out how the spring plate in the rear caliper sits

Only thing I'm sure of (I think) is that that arrow points forward

Is it supposed to clip into place somewhere or remain as a free floating item

Thanks for any Help

Cheers

Morning Mark

I don't have an 1100 picture handy but this 1150 is very similar.

@dirtrider My caliper doesn’t have that…is that necessary? I just rebuilt it and it was already gone…what exactly is it for?

It is sort of an anti-rattle pad tension spring, it prevents pad rattle & keeps tension on the brake pads. You should probably relace it.  Are you sure that your caliper doesn't have it but it is stuck in place?

@dirtrider without pulling the caliper off and checking, I’m pretty positive it’s not there. I rebuilt that caliper with new pads, seals and pistons. ( I did EVERYTHING—rebuilt all calipers, both master cylinders, new pads, lines, discs…)

ill have to take a look after DART and see.

Hi

Thanks for that DR

That was the only place it seemed to "fit" but wasn't certain as it just seems to float there

Anyhow all back together

Am curious as to how that piece actually works as it's hard to see with it back together

Bet there is a lot of bikes cruising around without that piece in place

Morning Mark

It's function is pretty simple, it just keeps tension or pressure on the top of the brake pads so they don't rattle around.
